Surgical Care

Prowers Medical Center’s skilled surgical team is here to take care of you and your family in an advanced surgical suite that offers new operating rooms designed to accommodate leading-edge surgical and visualization equipment. This creates excellent working conditions for both the caregivers and the patient. Private pre-op and post-op areas along with private consult areas enhance the surgical experience.

Our general surgeons are board-certified to perform a wide range of surgeries, from appendectomies and gallbladder removal to hernia repair, biopsies, PICC placement, and many more.

Currently, three surgeons perform general surgery at Prowers Medical Center: Christine Bogardus, DO; James DeLine, MD; and Ahmed Zihni, MD, MPH.

“Lamar is a great little community,” said Dr. Bogardus, who joined the surgical team in 2018. “It’s so nice to really get to know the nurses and referring physicians, not just as names, but as actual people. It means a lot to me to spend time with my patients and really get to know them.”

OB/GYN Care

Christian Korkis, MD, and Rebecca Cisneros, MD, are the OB/GYN physicians at Prowers Medical Center. They are both board-certified and provide comprehensive women’s health care to the Prowers County community.

OB/GYN care at Prowers Medical Center includes gynecological screenings and care, breast care and mammography, family planning (including long-acting contraceptive options), postmenopausal management and minimally invasive surgeries such as hysterectomies, tubal ligations, uterine polyp removal and many more. Birthing center services have been temporarily paused, but continued efforts are underway to stabilize and reopen the Labor and Delivery unit in the very near future.

Dr. Cisneros began providing care at Prowers Medical Center in 2022. She comes from a long line of physicians. Both her father and grandfather were OB/GYNs. “I really like to involve my patients in their care,” she said. “I want to make it collaborative, not just oversee. I want their input and to know their goals.”
