Smoke-Free Campus

Prowers Medical Center has implemented a Smoke-Free Campus policy which applies to all property owned, leased or managed by the hospital. We prohibit all tobacco and smoking-related products on-site. This includes cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, pipes, vaping pens, and similar items. Prowers Medical Center joins other Colorado hospitals that have implemented a smoke-free policy.

Hospital Etiquette

  • If you or a family member are not feeling well, stay home.

  • Leave small children at home. They could bring in or be exposed to germs.

  • Time your visit for the patient’s convenience, not yours. If possible, call ahead.

  • Knock before entering a room, then quietly open the door. It gives the patient a few seconds if they need to cover themselves.

  • Be sensitive to a patient’s situation. They may request to have no visitors.

  • Be aware of a patient’s personal space.

  • Please be considerate of other patients by keeping your voice down. If the patient’s hearing is impaired by medication or pain you may increase your volume as appropriate.

  • Always include the patient in conversations. Don’t talk about a patient as if they are not in the room, even if they are sedated.

  • If you plan to take a food basket, check first to see if the patient is on a restricted diet to help resist their temptation to sample. Never snack from a patient’s meal tray.

  • Take precaution against wearing perfume and other scented items which could nauseate patients.

Vendors and Suppliers

Doing Business with Prowers Medical Center

At Prowers Medical Center we rely on vendors and suppliers to help us fulfill our mission to deliver consistent, exceptional care to all. To provide this level of service our staff depends on the best products and services that you, our partners, provide.

Our partnership with you, therefore, is an essential component of our strategy to improve the well-being of all of our patients. We’re dedicated to doing everything we can to encourage and nurture beneficial, long-term, and mutually satisfying relationships with vendors and suppliers, and we’re eager to contract with companies that share our culture while offering competitive pricing for the highest quality products and services.

As our work depends on you, we want to make it as easy and as rewarding as possible for you to work with us. We welcome your business and have developed vendor program policies that we hope will make it easier for you to do business with us. Designed with patient safety in mind, these policies also aim to help ease compliance with increasingly complex regulatory issues and encourage a positive and mutually rewarding partnership.

Visiting Prowers Medical Center

You will only be able to visit team members of Prowers Medical Center if you have an appointment. We do not allow drop-in meetings in our clinical or administrative spaces. If you would like to stop by to drop off literature and your business card, you are welcome to do so at our Materials Management Department. Be sure to allow adequate time to sign in at one of our vendor check points before meeting with a member of our Materials Management team.

Parking is available free of charge at the main parking lot at 401 Kendall Drive, Lamar, CO 81052. Please leave the spaces closest to the hospital entrance for patients.

Vendor Representative Registration and Credentialing

Vendor/supplier representative registration is required of anyone who physically conducts business on the Prowers Medical Center campus or clinic. This registration provides us with information about department(s) with which you’ll be conducting business and the type of work you do while on our properties. If you do not anticipate ever having a physical presence at Prowers Medical Center, registration is not required. For detailed registration requirements for your vendor type, please see our Vendor Management Handbook linked below.

If you are found in the hospital without a valid badge, you will be in violation of the Prowers Medical Center Vendor Management policy and you will be asked to visit a Sec3ure kiosk, or appropriate check-in point to sign in, report to the Materials Management or leave the premises. Repeated violation of the policy could result in temporary or permanent suspension of privileges.

Prowers Medical Center has adopted strict policies on the introduction of new non-pharmaceutical supplies to the organization. We use the Value Analysis Committee (VAC) to analyze new products before we make the decision to use them. It is in the interest of the vendor representative to involve the Materials Management Department as early as possible to ensure your compliance with our policies and procedures. Please do not try to circumvent Materials Management and go directly to a clinician or department to influence the adoption of new supplies. This will only lead to delays and will almost certainly lead to a review of your access privileges.

For pharmaceutical reps, Prowers Medical Center has adopted strict policies on the introduction of new or non-formulary medications to the agency. We use the Prowers Medical Center Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee to evaluate the safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness of new or non-formulary medications. Attempting to circumvent the Pharmacy management team and work directly with a physician or pharmacy to influence the adoption of a new or non-formulary medication will result in your access privileges being revoked.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT HANDBOOK

Sec3ure

For vendors who work directly with our patients, registration is completed through Intellicentrics Sec3ure, a third-party vendor management system. To allow time for credential processing, representatives should create and update their Sec3ure account at least five business days before coming on campus. Vendors can visit the Sec3ure website at https://www.sec3ure.com/login to create an account with Sec3ure before they plan to visit Prowers Medical Center. Sec3ure may ask for additional credentials depending on access is needed to patient care areas or non-patient care administrative offices. There is an annual membership fee associated with the Sec3ure credentialing service that will allow you to access clinical and non-clinical areas, as well, as access to any Sec3ure member hospital. Sec3ure credentialing will require you to acknowledge a series of Prowers Medical Center policies and procedures before your first visit to our campus. Representatives who already have a Sec3ure account should add Prowers Medical Center to their list of hospitals and complete our credentialing requirements. If you have any questions or concerns about the information being requested, please contact the Sec3ure team at  (817) 732-3873 .

The hospital has a  conveniently located Sec3ure kiosk at the Main Entrance, or you can use the mobile application by scanning the QR code outside of surgical services or Materials Management. You may access any of the kiosks to register your visit and to print your badge. The kiosk is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please remember to log out of Sec3ure when you leave the building! Sec3ure also provides a mobile app which will allow you to check in and out of our facilities. Search for Sec3ure in your phone’s app store.
