Our staff of board-registered and certified respiratory therapists provide care for breathing and heart conditions including pulmonary function testing, spirometry, heart monitoring, treadmill stress testing, EKG testing and sleep studies. Our trained staff provides extensive services right here at home through our pacemaker clinic, cardiac rehab and pulmonary rehab programs.

Special Programs

The cardio and pulmonary rehabilitation programs at Prowers Medical Center offer supervised exercise training, emotional support and patient and family education. The program runs 3 days a week for 12 weeks and is designed to help patients manage their underlying disease.

  • Gradually move into a more intense exercise program that lets you work longer & harder
  • Improve your cardiovascular fitness
  • Reduce personal risk factors for heart disease and learn to manage them

Goals for Pulmonary Rehabilitation

  • Fewer hospitalizations and use of medical resources
  • Reversal of muscle deconditioning
  • Reduce respiratory symptoms such as dyspnea
  • Improve psychosocial symptoms such as anxiety and depression

The cardiopulmonary team supports several areas of the hospital, and participates on the following care teams:

  • C-Sections in OR with known complications
  • Code Blue (Resuscitation)
  • Conscious sedation done in the ER setting
