New Beginnings Birth Center
Labor and delivery care for area moms
Prowers Medical Center’s award winning, full service birth center offers spacious, private rooms equipped with a Jacuzzi tub or a private shower. The OB/GYN physicians, nurse midwife, and our specially-trained nursing team will tend to you and your baby before and after delivery.
At Prowers Medical Center, we maintain a philosophy that supports mother-baby bonding and encourages mothers to room-in with their babies. We honor the golden hour, or the first magical hour after birth, allowing you to spend undisturbed time together as a new family. This special time promotes bonding, feeding and sets the stage for your new baby to flourish in the coming days and years. We welcome your support person to stay with you throughout your stay.
Assess and monitor mom and baby for any reason starting at 20 weeks gestation and continue to care for you and your baby throughout your pregnancy, during labor and delivery for both natural childbirth and C-sections, and after.
Assist with breastfeeding through support and education, and follow hospital maternity care practices for successful breastfeeding.
Teach mothers and families how to care for themselves and their babies.
Treat jaundice in newborns with phototherapy.
Offer hearing screenings for all newborns and referrals for those that need further testing.
Monitor both mom and baby through our centralized monitoring system which allows us to assess and care for the mother and unborn baby throughout the labor process, including state-of-the-art central fetal monitoring.
Provide antepartum testing to delivery, postpartum and newborn care.
Provide C-sections via OB/GYN board-certified physicians.
Offer pain control via epidurals as desired from a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
The New Beginnings Birth Center was awarded The Colorado Can Do 5! BEST award in 2013. All of our nurses hold several certifications, including neonatal resuscitation (NRP), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and advanced fetal heart monitoring, and STABLE, a method to stabilize and prepare sick newborns for transport. Most hold certificates in either pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or trauma nurse core course (TNCC). 100% of our Birth Center nurses are STABLE certified. Babies born before 36 weeks are delivered at the hospital, unless they are deemed high risk. Birthing tours are available.
To help protect your new addition to your family, provide for bonding of the new family, establish breastfeeding, and plenty of rest for the new mother, the New Beginnings Birth Center has the following visiting hours. Visitors are encouraged to come between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm. No children are allowed to visit unless they are a sibling to the new baby or are 16 years of age or older.

“Our nurses are trained above and beyond most smaller hospitals. It’s unique to have an OB/GYN physician and a nurse midwife on our team. Our patients are in very good hands.”
