Language Access Services

Prowers Medical Center is committed to giving the best healthcare in the way that our patients and their families understand best. When a patient is hospitalized, the cultural and linguistic barriers can affect the quality of medical attention that a patient receives. In an effort to better serve our patients who do not speak English, Language Interpreter Services are available. All Language Interpreter Services are provided FREE of charge and are handled with strict confidentiality.

If you need a qualified interpreter when you arrive at our hospital, simply notify a member of our nursing staff, one of our physicians/providers or look for any member of the Interpreters Committee Team who is wearing a blue globe on their identification badge to assist you with coordinating Language Interpreter Services.  You may also ask for assistance at the front desk in the main entrance of our hospital.

Language Interpreter Services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Language access services are also available after-hours, weekends and holidays.

Community members who have completed the necessary interpreting training include:  Janet Alvarado Cano, Administrative Assistant/Qualified Interpreter, Options For Long Term Care-Prowers County Public Health; Claudia Coronado Marta, Prowers County Department of Human Services; and Jennifer Vazquez, WIC educator, LMS.
